The Vantafin screener lets you filter thousands of stocks and ETFs down to the ones that match your criteria, using price, daily change, fundamentals, valuation, growth, dividends, and dozens of other metrics. You open it from the sidebar at /app/screener. This guide walks you through building your first screen from scratch.

What the screener is for

A screener answers "which companies match these rules?" Instead of checking tickers one by one, you define filters and get a live list. Common uses:

  • Find profitable companies trading below a valuation threshold.
  • Surface dividend payers with a minimum yield.
  • Spot the day's big movers by percent change.

Build a screen step by step

First screen

Open the screener and add a market-cap filter

Go to the screener, filter for large caps, then click a result like AAPL to open the full company profile.

Open screener→AAPL overview
  1. Open the Screener.
  2. Add a filter - for example, market capitalization greater than a value.
  3. Add more filters to narrow the list (each filter is combined, so results match all of them).
  4. Review the results table; it updates as you refine filters.
  5. Click any row to open that company's profile.

Example: large, profitable, reasonably valued

Try this starter screen:

FilterExample value
Market capGreater than $10B
Net incomePositive
P/E ratioLess than 25

This narrows to large, profitable companies that are not trading at extreme multiples. Adjust the thresholds to fit your strategy. For a deeper dive on valuation and fundamental filters, see Filter by fundamentals and valuation.

Results to research

Open a hit, then save keepers to a watchlist

From screener results, open NVDA for a deeper look on the profile, then add the names you like to a watchlist.

NVDA overview→Watchlists

From results to research

The screener is the start of a workflow, not the end:

  1. Open promising results as company profiles.
  2. Save the ones you like into a watchlist.
  3. Ask AI Chat to compare them by attaching the watchlist.

Save your screen

Once you have a screen you like, save it so you can reopen it later without rebuilding. Saved screens live under your account. See Customize columns and save screens.

Next step

Ask AI Chat to compare your shortlist

Attach the watchlist in AI Chat and ask which names lead on revenue growth and margins before you dig into filings.

Open AI Chat→Example workflows

Stocks and ETFs

The screener covers both stocks and ETFs. Use filters appropriate to the security type - for example, valuation multiples for operating companies.

Next steps

  • Filter by fundamentals and valuation
  • Customize columns and save screens
  • Turn results into a watchlist
