This article gives you concrete, copy-ready AI Chat workflows you can run today. Each one combines a source attachment with a specific prompt so answers stay grounded. Use them as-is or save them as prompt templates.
1. Summarize a 10-K in minutes
Goal: understand a company's annual report fast.
- Open AI Chat.
- Attach the latest 10-K for the company (see Attach sources).
- Prompt: "Summarize this 10-K: what the business does, the five biggest risk factors, and the key points from MD&A. Use short bullets."
- Follow up: "Which risks are new versus last year?"
2. Compare two companies
Goal: a side-by-side on fundamentals.
- Attach both tickers, e.g. NVDA and AMD.
- Prompt: "Compare these two on revenue growth, gross margin, operating margin, and free cash flow. Present as a table and note who leads on each."
- Verify anything notable on each company's Financials tab.
3. Preview and recap an earnings call
Goal: be ready before and after a report.
- Before: check the date on the Calendar, then attach last quarter's transcript and ask, "What guidance did management give last quarter?"
- After: attach the new transcript and ask, "What changed in guidance, and summarize the three most important analyst questions."
4. Screen, then analyze
Goal: go from a list of candidates to insight.
- Build a screen in the Screener, e.g. profitable dividend growers.
- Save the results into a watchlist.
- In AI Chat, attach that watchlist and ask, "Rank these by free cash flow yield and flag any with rising debt."
5. Research your own documents
Goal: query material you brought in.
- Upload a PDF to your research drive.
- Attach it in chat and ask, "Summarize this document and list any figures it cites with their context."
Make them repeatable
Save any of these as a prompt template and keep them inside a relevant project. For market context and ideas, browse the Vantafin blog.
