Prompt templates let you save the questions you ask most often and reuse them in AI Chat with one click. Instead of retyping "Summarize the latest 10-K risk factors" for every company, save it once and apply it to any attached source. This guide shows how.
When prompts help
Saved prompts shine for repeatable tasks, such as:
Summarizing a filing or earnings call.
Comparing two companies on the same metrics.
Extracting guidance changes from a transcript.
Producing a consistent research checklist.
Filing template
Save a 10-K summary prompt, run it on Apple
Create a generic filing-summary template in AI Chat, attach AAPL's latest 10-K, and reuse the same prompt on the next company.
Create a prompt template
Open AI Chat and go to your prompts .
Create a new prompt with a clear name and the template text.
Save it. It now appears in the composer's prompt picker.
Write reusable prompts
Keep templates generic so they work across companies. For example:
Peer compare
Reuse a comparison prompt on NVDA and MSFT
Save a table prompt for revenue growth, margins, and free cash flow, attach both tickers, then confirm numbers on each Financials tab.
Purpose Template Filing summary "Summarize the attached filing: business, top risks, and MD&A highlights, as bullets." Peer comparison "Compare the attached tickers on revenue growth, gross margin, and free cash flow, as a table." Earnings recap "From the attached transcript, list guidance changes and the three most important Q&A exchanges."
Then attach the relevant ticker , filing , or transcript and run the prompt.
