Today marks the first public release of Vantafin. Vantafin is a financial data platform built around one idea: the same institutional-grade market data that hedge funds pay five figures a year for should be affordable, well-documented, and easy to plug into whatever you are building - an AI assistant, a research pipeline, a trading bot, or a weekend side project.

There are two ways to use Vantafin, and 1.0 ships both at once. First, a developer platform: a REST API, a real-time WebSocket feed, and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets AI assistants like Claude and Cursor pull live market data on demand. Second, a full desktop web app at vantafin.com that turns that same data into a research terminal you can click through - screeners, charts, filings, transcripts, calendars, watchlists, alerts, and an AI analyst chat. Everything below is available now.

What Vantafin is

Vantafin unifies the data professional investors rely on - real-time and historical prices, full financial statements, SEC filings, earnings-call transcripts, insider and institutional ownership, corporate actions, macro series, and market news - behind a single API key and a single web login. Coverage spans 12,000+ US-listed stocks and ETFs.

The platform is designed so a machine and a human can consume the exact same dataset. Your AI agent queries it through structured tools; you explore it through a polished interface. No black boxes, no hallucinated numbers, no stale exports - just verifiable data tied back to primary sources.

The developer platform

Everything in Vantafin is accessible programmatically. One API key (grab it from Settings, API Usage) authenticates the REST API, the WebSocket stream, and the MCP server, all rate-limited at 1,000 requests per minute.

  • REST APIA fully documented, OpenAPI-spec REST API covering company data and search, quotes (single and batch, up to 200 tickers per call), a stock screener with 80+ filterable fields, earnings, dividends, splits and IPOs, institutional and fund ownership, ETF holdings, short interest, insider transactions, financial statements, revenue segmentation, allocation breakdowns, macro series, SEC filings, news, and earnings transcripts.
  • WebSocket streamingA single real-time connection at wss://socket.vantafin.com/v1/stocks exposes five channels: per-second live quotes, per-minute live quotes, live news and press releases, live SEC filings, and trading halts - subscribable per-ticker or market-wide.
  • MCP serverAn MCP server exposing 23 typed tools (get_time, search_companies, get_quotes, get_company_profile, get_valuation_metrics, get_financials, get_revenue_segmentation, get_etf_holdings, get_price_history, search_filings, list_filings, read_filing, list_transcripts, read_transcript, search_transcripts, search_earnings_materials, get_earnings, screen_stocks, get_news, get_events, get_macro, get_corporate_actions, and get_ipos). Point Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible client at it and your AI can pull real market intelligence grounded in primary sources.
  • Official client librariesReady-to-use SDKs for Python, JavaScript/Node, Go, Java, and Ruby, with typed responses, built-in rate-limit handling, and an optional WebSocket client.

The web app

Vantafin is also a desktop research terminal at vantafin.com - a showcase of everything the data can do and a workspace in its own right. Every surface below is powered by the same endpoints the API exposes.

  • Home & searchA market overview with instant search across every covered ticker, so you can jump straight into any company.
  • Company profilesA deep per-company workspace: interactive OHLCV price charts, financial statements, valuation metrics, revenue segmentation, news, events, earnings transcripts, SEC filings, and insider & institutional ownership - all on one symbol.
  • Stock screenerScreen 12,000+ stocks and ETFs across 80+ fundamental, valuation, and technical fields, then save and revisit your screens.
  • CalendarA unified calendar of earnings, dividends, splits, and IPOs, filterable by event type.
  • Watchlists & alertsBuild watchlists and set email alerts on price moves, new SEC filings, and breaking news for the names you track.
  • AI analyst chatAn in-app AI assistant wired directly to Vantafin data - ask it to screen stocks, summarize a 10-K's risk factors, or compare earnings against estimates, and it answers from real endpoints.
  • Files & documentsUpload and organize your own research documents alongside the market data.
  • In-app documentationThe full REST, WebSocket, and MCP docs live inside the app, complete with an OpenAPI spec and setup guides for every client.
